David Hoy has been involved in aviation for over 40 years and has held a number senior roles as Chief Flight Instructor and Head of Training as well as being part of the pilot selection team for several airlines including Virgin Atlantic, Middle Eastern Airlines, Airtours International, Air 2000, British Caledonian, British World Airlines and Britannia, now TUI. In these roles, David has become aware of the attributes required to be successful in training as well as the elements required to make a successful training establishment.

Personal Statement 

I have been active in the Flight Training Industry my entire working life. This has been in various roles from flight, ground and simulator training to positions as Chief Flying Instructor and to Head of Training. Most have been or developed into senior management roles. For seven years, I held the post of Business Development Director, a position that saw me negotiating at senior level with many of the world’s largest airlines including British Airways and Virgin Atlantic. I have worked in the Middle East for Qatar Aeronautical College as CFI progressing to Head of Training and am used to operating within a multi-cultural training environment. I was also selected to head the commercial training division of BAE Systems in Manchester for two years working on the BAe 146, ATP and Jetstream aircraft. I have also worked as a Flight Simulator Instructor and examiner on the Cessna Mustang (VLJ), the King Air - B 200 series and the Cessna Citation CJ 2. For the last five years, I have been working through my own company as a CPL and IR instructor and Examiner on behalf of the UK Civil Aviation Authority.

• Aviation Training Management Professional, extensive experience as manager, examiner, active pilot and flight and ground instructor.

• EASA/JAA/CAA Regulatory Knowledge and experience.

• UK CAA Senior Flight Examiner (Examiner’s examiner)

• S/E and M/E Flight and Simulator Instructor and Instructor Examiner (FIC) (FIE) – 19,000 hrs

• CRE/TRE/SFE/SFI. UK CAA/EASA Senior Examiner/FIC and FIE qualified

• Type ratings on Beech King Air, B 200, Citation Jet 2, Cessna Mustang (C -510) Corporate jets, Current Class ratings on Single and Multi- Engine Piston.

• Experience in Quality Management and Safety Management Systems

• Excellent written and oral presentation skills (3 books published)
